Honor 8 Pro launched in India with 6GB RAM and dual camera, priced at Rs 29,999

Honor, the wholly-owned subsidiary of Huawei has today announced the launch of its latest flagship smartphone in India — the Honor 8 Pro.

The smartphone was originally launched in the European market in April this year. While it was launched in two variants — 4GB and 6GB RAM. However, in India, the company has launched the 6GB RAM variant.

Priced at Rs 29,999 in India, the phone’s first sale will be on July 10 as part of Amazon Prime day. This sale will be only for Amazon Prime members. On Prime Day, the company is offering 15 percent cashback to HDFC debit and credit card users. The official sale of Honor 8 Pro will start from July 13 on Amazon India.

As of introductory offer, those who purchase the smartphone will also get the 45GB of Vodafone free data offer, which gives users 5GB extra data every month.

The Honor 8 Pro comes with a 5.7-inch Quad HD LTPS LCD display with screen resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels along with the 2.5D curved glass.

Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by the company’s own Kirin 960 octa-core processor which is clocked at 2.4 GHz. Along with that is Mali G71 GPU.

The phone packs 6GB of RAM, and 128GB of internal storage. There is also a microSD card slot, which allows users to expand the storage up to 128GB.

The highlight of the Honor 8 Pro is the dual rear camera system. It comes with 12MP + 12MP camera on the back. While one sensor is for monochrome, the other is RGB lens. The front camera is 8-megapixels sensor.

The smartphone has a 4000mAh battery with fast charging support, and runs on Android 7.0 Nougat operating system, with Huawei’s EMUI 5.1 skin over the top. Other features in the device include a fingerprint sensor on the back and the IR blaster to use the phone as a quick remote controller.

As of the connectivity, the Honor 8 Pro comes with 4G LTE with VoLTE, Dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz and 5GHz), Bluetooth 4.2 LE, GPS, NFC, and USB Type-C port.

Looking at the specs and pricing, the Honor 8 Pro will be competing against the recently launched OnePlus 5. It was launched in India in two variants — 6GB RAM and 8GB RAM, priced at Rs 32,999 and Rs 37,999 respectively.
