Xiaomi has today launched a new smartphone named Xiaomi Mi A1, the first smartphone from the company under Google’s Android One program. This marks Mi A1 as the first device from the China-based company to come with stock Android OS.
The Xiaomi Mi A1 comes with a 5.5-inch full HD display with a layer of 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass on top. Under the hood, the phone is powered by 2.0GHz Snapdragon 625 processor, along with 4GB of RAM. It has 64GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded using a microSD card.
On the camera front, the phone comes with a dual camera setup at back, featuring 12-megapixel + 12-megapixel setup. While one is a wide-angle lens, the other one is a telephone lens. It also features 2X optical zoom and 10X digital zoom. On the front, it has a 5-megapixel camera.
The company has included a dedicated headphone amplifier along with a power amplifier that produces deeper lows and higher volume through the speaker. There is a fingerprint sensor at the back, just below the camera module.
Being a part of Android One program, the phone runs on Android 7.1 Nougat operating system. The company says that the device will get Android Oreo update by the end of this year.
The connectivity options on the Mi A1 include 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11, Bluetooth and GPS. The Dual SIM smartphone also features an IR blaster, allowing users to control home appliances through the phone. The device is powered by 3080mAh battery.
The Xiaomi Mi A1 will be available from September 12 in India on the company’s own e-commerce store — Mi.com, along with Mi Home and Mi preferred stores. It will also be available on Flipkart.
