Last month, Xiaomi launched Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus smartphones in China. The phone was launched in two variants — 2GB RAM with 16GB storage and 3GB RAM with 32GB storage.
Now, the company has launched a new variant of the device which comes with 4GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The phone is already available for purchase in China through the company’s official online store.
Apart from the bump in RAM, everything else remains same as the standard variant. The phone features a 5.7-inch display with 18:9 aspect ratio and 1440 x 720 pixels screen resolution. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 chipset, with 1.8GHz octa-core processor, and Adreno 506 GPU.
There is a microSD card slot, enabling users to expand the phone’s storage. It also comes with a fingerprint sensor placed at the back of the phone just below the camera. It has a 12MP camera at the back with 1.25-micron pixel size. The camera surprisingly only records 1080P videos at 30fps. On the front of the device, there’s a 5MP camera with Beautify 3.0.
The phone runs MIUI 9.0 which is based on Android Nougat operating system and is powered by a 3,300mAh battery, which according to the company, has a standby time of up to 12 days.
The Redmi 5 with 4GB RAM is available in three colors — Black, Gold and Blue. This new variant is priced at ¥1,099 (~$174/?11,044) and as mentioned, it is already up for sale in China.
