As promised earlier, Xiaomi has today announced its next-generation tablet — Mi Pad 4. The tablet, which comes in multiple variants, has a two-tone rear panel design that resembles the Apple iPad 2018.
The Mi Pad 4 features an 8-inch Full HD display with screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, 16:10 screen aspect ratio and pixel density of 283ppi. The pixel density on this new tablet is lower than its predecessor Mi Pad 3 which had 326ppi. However, the Mi Pad 4’s display supports eye mode, standard mode, enhanced mode, intelligent adaptation mode, and more.
Under the hood, it is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 660 octa-core processor along with Adreno 512 GPU. It comes in two variants — one with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage and another with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage.
Coming to the camera, there’s a 13-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and OV13855 sensor. On the front side, it comes equipped with a 5-megapixel Samsung S5K5E8 sensor with f/2.0 aperture.
The front-facing camera also doubles up for facial recognition since the tablet also supports Face Unlock feature. Connectivity options include 4G LTE (optional), WiFi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 5, GPS + GLONASS, and USB Type-C.
The Mi Pad 4 comes with Split screen mode, which allows users to split screen to multitask. Running on Android 8.1 Oreo-based MIUI custom interface, the Mi Pad 4 is powered by a 6000mAh battery which the company claims can deliver more than 16 hours of backup.
Xiaomi has opted to make it more compact compared to its predecessor. It measures 200.2 x 120.3 x 7.9mm and weighs at 242.5 grams. The company says that the smaller body makes the Mi Pad 4 easy to operate with a single hand.
Pricing And Availability
The Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 comes in two color options — Black and Gold. While the 3GB RAM variant is priced at 1099 yuan (USD 169, INR 11,470), the 4GB RAM model costs 1399 yuan (USD 215, INR 14,600). The 4G LTE variant with 4GB RAM is priced at 1499 yuan (USD 230, INR 15,625). It will go on sale in China from June 27th.
Currently, there is no information available about the Mi Pad 4’s availability in markets other than China but we do expect the fourth-generation Mi Pad to make its way outside China.
